He worked for farming and cattle operations in Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas. He served as an Agricultural Missionary in Brazil. Returning to Mountain View, he raised cattle, and served as a substitute teacher. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church for decades. He taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and the Men's Quartet, served in AWANAS, and was involved in the formation of Celebrate Recovery and Freeway ministries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marj and Corliss; and in-laws, Jim and Artie Polk.

Kent grew up with cousins, horses, football and basketball games, going to church, singing, working hard feeding cows and milking before breakfast and then to school. Often doing that again before leaving for a game. His happy place was on a horse with cows and dogs and a Bible or Oswald Chambers devotional book was close at hand. He began every day with hours of reading and studying the Bible. He was always ready to discuss the Word. He affected the lives of many with his servant heart. He also had great joy in attending the events of his children and grandchildren.
