Obituary

Betty Jean Russell was born on September 15, 1933, in Winona, Missouri, to Marley and Daisy (Vaugh) Mayberry and departed this life on March 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a remarkable 92 years and six months, cherishing each moment with her loved ones.

On August 17, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to George Ray Russell in Salem, Arkansas. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Terry, Diane, Ronnie, and Angie. George preceded her in death on March 29, 2018, and their family finds solace in knowing that he awaited her with open arms.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Russell; in-laws, James Russell and Lucy Yeager; one brother, Larry Mayberry and wife, Georgia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Ruby Russell, and James and Alma Russell; and some great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Terry Russell (Mary) of West Plains, MO; daughters Diane Van Winkle (Frankie) of Winona, MO, and Angie Norris (Lynn) of Winona, MO; one brother, Roger Mayberry (Rhonda) of Hermann, MO; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, with three more on the way; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Betty dedicated over 40 years to her career as a seamstress at Paramount Cap Factory in Winona before retiring. Even in retirement, she continued to work at Driveline through Dollar General until the remarkable age of 82. Her passion for family gatherings was evident; she celebrated any occasion that brought family together. Betty cherished her travels, particularly her trips to the beach, with her last visit occurring in September 2025, when she joyfully celebrated her 92nd birthday. She also enjoyed visiting Branson and engaging in yard sales in Nixa, as well as supporting Wildcat Volleyball—always ready to cheer them on. Additionally, she found joy in crafts and woodworking alongside her husband.

A woman of faith, Betty was saved and baptized at an early age. She is dearly loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
