Obituary

Bonnie Lee Stricklin, 86, of Festus, MO, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson surrounded by her family.

She was born August 10, 1938, in Willow Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Roy Lee and Opal Marie (Whited) Cox. Bonnie married Lloyd Calvin Stricklin, on May 13, 1960, who survives.

She is also survived by her daughter, Joy (husband, Clint) Johnston of Festus, Missouri; sister, Linda (husband, Gerry) Elam of Popular Bluff, Missouri; brothers, Sam Cox of Springfield, Missouri, and Herb (wife, Sally) Cox of Hatfield, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Brian (husband, Thomas) Paul of Springfield, Missouri, and Brett (wife, Claire) Paul of Cottleville, Missouri; step-grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Karen) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Kayla Johnston of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Keaton Michael Paul and Magnolia Ryan Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Freda (husband, Robert) Weatherford of Shelbyville, Indiana; and her brother, Gene (wife, Irene) Cox of Hermann, Missouri.

She graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1956. Bonnie retired from a long and successful career as an executive administrator with Sprint Telecommunication Corporation. Bonnie and Lloyd were members of the Willow Springs Christian Church. Bonnie enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting, and cake decorating. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was known for having her home fully decorated for each holiday season. She was active with her church, loved her family, and enjoyed traveling in their airstream with the love of her life, Lloyd of 64 years. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs, Missouri, with Pastor Bob Martin officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Willow Springs City Cemetery, Willow Springs, Missouri.
