Clinton James Ard, was born on March 9, 1940, and departed this life on December 16, 2020. He was 80 years 9 months and 7 days old. Clinton was born in a little house near Akers Missouri, the fifth child of Ray Marvin Ard and Alma Jane Prater Ard. He graduated 8th grade at Shannondale School, and at 15 he went to work with his dad and two older brothers. At that time, they were cutting and hauling white oak stave bolts in Indiana and Illinois. Clinton would carry the bolts out on his shoulder to help load the truck. He mostly worked in the timber industry all his life having his own sawmill and so forth. He also owned his own tractor and trailer for about ten years and drove all over the United States and Canada. On May 27, 1958, at Salem Missouri, he married Etta Margaret Comely and to this union, five children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; daughters, Donna June Damouth (Rob) of Salem, MO, Jennifer Lucille Basham (Jeremy) of Eminence, MO; son, Jerry Dale Ard of Eminence, MO; brothers, Denver Ray Ard (Maxine) of Eminence, MO, Michael Paul Ard (Diane) of Eminence, MO; sisters, Verdie Marie Madison of Phoenix, AR; Jerdie Levear Bustamantes of Colorado, Norma Jean Woolford (Dwayne) of Mountain View, MO, Doneta Ellen Randall (Charles) of Brooklyn, IL, Betty Lou Banks (Harold) of Eminence, MO; brother-in-law, Donald Cordell Comely (Marlene) of St. Peters, MO; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Joyce Brown of Salem, MO, Sherry Ard of Macob, IL, Darlene Ard of St. Joseph, MO; eight grandchildren, Jessi Nicole Roderman (Brandon) of Ellington, MO, Corey Jeffery Damouth (Katrina) of Bunker, MO, Clayton Dale Ard of Eminence, MO, Hillary Kay Walker (Jake) of Eminence, MO, Nathan Earl Ferguson (Brittany) of Eminence, MO, Joshua Bailey Ferguson (Amber) of Eminence, MO, Megan Deshea Damouth and Mariah Jane Damouth of Salem, MO; twelve great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
Preceding him in death was his father and mother, Ray Marvin Ard and Alma Jane (Prater) Ard; son, James Clinton Ard; daughter, Margaret Jane Ard, brothers, Johnie Willard Ard, Terry Lee Ard, Darell David Ard, Harold Dwayne Ard; sister, Vergie Irene Miles; father and mother-in-law, Law Cordell and Ellen Comely; four nieces, Michelle Ard, Deanna Aders, Patty Bennett and Renae Bland; two nephews, Eugene Piatt and Allen Bland; five brothers-in-law, Paul Miles, Jimmy Wade, Johnie Bland, Howard Piatt, and Lester Brown; one sister-in-law, Dorthy Ard.
He was saved and baptized in 1974, at Eminence Assembly of God, and he kept his faith. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with Gary Piatt, Tony Weber, and Rick Mansfield. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His journey is over.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri with Dr. Rick Mansfield officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Eminence Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri.
