David Edward "Eddie" Reed, Big Ed to most, 75, passed away on July 3, 2024, at his home in Mountain View, Missouri.

Big Ed was born in Salem, Missouri on January 29, 1949. That particular year there was an ice storm. He has often been known to say "That's why the weather is always bad on my birthday". Big Ed was united in marriage to Deborah Jo (Stoops) Reed on Friday, May 13, 1977, in Mountain View, Missouri.

Big Ed is survived by his wife, Deborah Jo; children, Patrick Jason Reed (Stephanie Morgan) of Mountain View, MO, Heather Hawkins (Jeff) of Springfield, MO, David Reed (Robin) of Branson, MO, and Stacy Fausett (Larry) of Lamar, MO; grandchildren, Ellie, Emmie, Eden, Kendall, Aspen, Ireland, Holland, Boston, Finley, Parker, Matilda, Bronx and Tennessee; great-grandson, Aven Tyler Watts. Big Ed is further survived by his brothers, Freeman Reed (Audrey) of Springfield, MO, and Timothy Reed (Shelley) of Mountain View, MO; sister-in-law, Penny Ferguson (David) of Ink, MO; brother-in-law, Terry Stoops (Becky) of Dixon, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Scott and David Rose (Williams) Reed; and sister, Donna Beth Reed.

Big Ed worked for Smith Flooring for 30 plus years. After retirement, he loved getting on the lawn mower and mowing his large yard, whether it needed it or not. His most favorite thing to do here lately was watching black and white westerns with his girls. Big Ed was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and you would always see him with his KC cap on.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
