Delbert Godsy was born September 6, 1927, in Willow Springs, Missouri to John Harrison and Mary (Rader) Godsy and died peacefully at his home in Mountain View, Missouri on February 18, 2022, at the age of 94. He was united in marriage to Laylia Darlene Bridges on April 8, 1955, and through this union, he was blessed with one son, Dean Godsy.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Darlene; his in-laws; two brothers-in-law, Gene and Milford Bridges; and one sister-in-law, Betty Bridges.
He is survived by his son, Dean Godsy and wife, Donna, Mountain Grove, MO; two grandchildren, Wesley Godsy and wife, Brittany, Gilmer, TX, and Hannah Milot and husband, Stephen, Lakewood, CO; two great-granddaughters, Addie and Kate Godsy, Gilmer, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
After serving in Korea, Delbert went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in education at the University of Missouri. In 1956, Delbert and Darlene moved to Mountain View, where he dedicated the next 30 plus years teaching in the Mountain View-Birch Tree School District before making the decision to retire. His time was then spent enjoying the things he loved, traveling, fishing, and, of course, GOLF. Delbert loved a beautiful sunny afternoon on the golf course.
Delbert also enjoyed spending time with Darlene at quilt shows. For many years, they attended quilt shows, selling and trading supplies, and sharing their knowledge and ideas with other vendors.
