Donald Leo Burrus was born to James Delmar "Doc" and Georgia Louise (McConnell) Burrus on July 27, 1937, in Shannon County, Missouri. He entered Heaven at 6:08 p.m. on October 5, 2021, at the age of 84.
Don fought for his country by enlisting in the military and serving in Germany. He was united in marriage to Dola Fay Prewett on September 15, 1960. To this union two sons were born, Timothy "Tim" and Ronald "Ronnie".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Georgia Burrus; and his beloved wife, Fay Burrus.
Don is survived by two sons, Tim Burrus, and Ronnie Burrus and wife, Rachael both of Eminence, MO; five grandchildren, April Berry and husband, Josh of Kevil, KY, Ashley Burrus, Maison Burrus, Hailee Burrus, and Jack Basham all of Eminence; two sisters, Linna Wood of Eminence, Judy Thomas of Florida; four brothers, Bill Burrus and wife, Maxine, Jack Burrus and wife, Betty, Tom Burrus, Kenny Burrus all of Eminence, and Richard Burrus and wife, Sherry of Fair Play, MO; and his four great-grandchildren, who he enjoyed spending time with, Rylan Rose, Blaedyn Rose, Jaxen Berry, and Lexi Burrus.
He loved riding down to his cabin, especially during deer season with some of the family. Don enjoyed spending time down at Bill's garage with his brothers and friends, sitting outside on his front porch, fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed being out in the garden, riding around town by himself and with his granddaughter, telling stories and shaking his fist to the great-grandchildren, and joking around with his neighbor. Don also loved eating his pumpkin pie at holiday time.
Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial dinner will be held for the family at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
