Donald William
West
Jun 20, 1953 — Feb 12, 2022
Donald William "Billy" West, 68, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away on February 12, 2022, at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri. He was born on June 20, 1953, the youngest of four children, to Donald Lee and Edna Mae (Fisher) West.
Billy married Emma DeWitt and to this union, four daughters were born; Michelle, Carla, Sherry, and Billie Sue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don & Edna West; wife Sheila West; and two daughters, Carla Johnson and Sherry West.
Billy is survived by two brothers, Bob and Jim West; one sister, Shirley Wake; two daughters, Michelle Lance and Billie Sue West; longtime friend and companion, Ann Abbott; six grandchildren, Gary Johnson, Brittani Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Michael Snyder, and Tyler Snyder; six great-grandchildren, Alrik and Ellis Johnson, Carla Rose Kelley, Carmine Kelley, Nola Rae Snyder, and Phoenix Kay Snyder; and a huge host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Billy was the baby of the family and his sister, Shirley, remembers him being a very happy child. At a young age, he did fall off a horse at his Uncle Jr's home, which resulted in a brain injury where he had seizures and an extended hospital stay. In his teenage years, Billy enjoyed hanging out with his cousins, Ronnie, Jerry, and Larry Fisher. As a young adult, he joined the army and spent time in Germany before being discharged. Most people will remember him as being the local tv repairman. But his true passion was sitting behind the wheel of his semi and seeing the states, unfortunately, due to health issues, this was cut short.
He had a love for the outdoors and fishing with his grandsons, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his fur babies. Billy will be remembered as a soft-spoken, gentleman who was a friend to many and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life is to be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 11-2:00 pm at the VFW hall, Mountain View, Missouri (1503 North Hwy Y). All those who knew him are invited to attend, a potluck luncheon and a time of reflection with the family.
