Edna Candy
Homer
Jan 15, 1943 — Mar 16, 2021
Edna Candy Homer was born on January 15, 1943, the fifth of five girls. Candy was originally named after her father. Her parents, Edward John Moody and Julia Anna (Stout) Moody lived in North Bergen, New Jersey, and her father gave her the nickname Candy. She lived life on her own terms, was generous to a fault, and welcoming to all. She was a member of the World Wildlife Federation, the Sierra Club, the Lakota Sioux Tribe, a staunch supporter of President Trump, an active member of the Birch Tree Senior Center, and worked as a volunteer for years at the local food pantry. She was also a frequent patron of most local libraries. A life-long dairy goat farmer, her herd were more like pets.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Rosemary Diehl and Margaret Rak.
She is survived by her sisters, Judy Falconer and Marion Baty; her brother, Edward Moody; her children, Marc Homer and Elena Brenner; and son-in-law, Gary Brenner. Candy also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julia Haas, Adam Brenner, Ryan Brenner, and Michael Brenner, as well as two great-granddaughters, Grace and River.
The family would like to thank all who have expressed their sympathy and ask that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the local food pantry, because making a difference in the lives of others was what mattered to Candy.
Memorial services will be held from 2 - 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree. The family will host a pot-luck dinner afterward at Oak Grove Church. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
