Effie Maxine
Holden
Oct 20, 1929 — Sep 26, 2023
Effie Maxine (Green) Holden was born on October 20, 1929, in Shannon County, Missouri, to Herbert Arthur and Ethel (Paschal) Green. She departed this life on September 26, 2023, in Willow Springs, Missouri, at the age of 93.
She married Cecil W. Holden on December 23, 1946. To this union, four children were born.
Effie owned a greenhouse in Mountain View, Missouri, for several years and dealt in antiques for most of her adult life. After Cecil's passing, she moved to Lake Wappapello and had returned to Mountain View for the past few years. She was an icon in Mountain View, and everyone knew her as "Miss Effie." She was well-read and traveled, spending time in Mexico, Canada, and all over the United States. Effie was spunky, vibrant, and loved everyone she met. She was a loving and giving person who could spark a conversation with anyone and dearly loved her friends and family. She had an adventurer's spirit.
She is survived by her children, Herbert Holden (Maria), Elaine Harris, and Olivia Dixon (Ron); grandchildren, Cecil A. Holden, Benjamin Harris, Tim Harris, Frank Harris, and Clint Elam; sister-in-law, Marietta Holden; and all the Dixon children, grands, and greats who lovingly called her "Grandma Effie"; her special Rolla family, Chris, De, Lesa, and Clayton Steen; her special friends, Leonor Vazquez Horn and John Swift; as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; oldest son, Bill; son-in-law Ralph Harris; and all her siblings, Arthur Green, Ancil Green, Harold Green, and Venita Terrill.
She would want to be remembered as living her life to the fullest until the instant she left this earth.
