Jackie Dean Vermillion was born in Gould, Colorado, on November 14, 1948, to Leland and Elsie (Brawley) Vermillion. He passed from this life on June 28, 2023, at his home in Alton, Missouri.

Dean is preceded in death by his mother and father, Leland and Elsie; one son, Audy; one brother, Dennis; and one sister, Maggie.

He was married to Arlene Bell, and one son was born to this union. He was also blessed, with a grandson, Dalton Vermillion, and granddaughter, Jessica Lovins and husband, Tyler, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Brysen. Dean and his wife later divorced.

Dean joined together with Faye Holesapple, and they were together until Dean's death.

He is survived by his partner, Faye Holesapple; son, Rocky Holesapple and wife, April; Rocky's brother, Preston Holesapple and wife, Carman; grandchildren, Tiffany Orchard and husband, Derrick, Rocky Holesapple II, Jaran Holesapple, Jase Holesapple, Miley Holesapple, Riley Holesapple, Arie Holesapple; great-grandchildren, Aubree Orchard, Madilen Orchard, and Rocky Orchard; and sisters, Marie Richardson and Linda Fisher.

Dean was an outdoorsman and loved being outside in the fresh air. He loved to raise horses, and when he moved back from Tennessee, he brought them with him to Missouri. Much of Dean's world consisted of working in sawmills, and if I remember right, he was the head sawyer. He would set the pace for the rest of the crew. Dean didn't always have an easy life, as you can tell by some of his history, but he loved his family and friends and counted them as important to him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
