Obituary

Jimmie "Jim" Lee Martin was born August 5, 1937, at the family farm in rural Birch Tree, Missouri to Joe and Myrtle Martin. Jim went to his eternal home on June 11, 2024, at 86. In his last hours, he was surrounded by his family and friends.

Jim graduated eighth grade from Turkey Oak School. He then joined his father in logging to support the family. This started his life-long career working in the logging industry.

Jim was saved at a very young age. He spent his life serving and worshipping the Lord. He spent countless hours throughout his life, studying his Bible, playing his guitar, and singing his favorite hymns. He attended church services every chance he could at Turkey Oak Church and later at the Montier Church of God of Prophecy. His wife, children, and grandchildren share many fond memories of attending church with him and witnessing his devotion to the Lord.

Jim loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, gigging, working on his equipment, working on his farm, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the fish fries on the banks of the rivers and at his son's property.

Jim was united in marriage to Judy Beavers on May 26, 1961. Through this union, five children were born, two sons, Leonard and Eddie, and three daughters, Glenda, Joyce, and Kathy.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Myrtle Martin; his mother-in-law, Ocelia Beavers; two sisters, Doreen Thomas and Nadia Pilcher; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Baxter and Linda Beavers; one brother-in-law, Clifford Beavers; one son-in-law, Gary Dow; one great-grandson, Cade Camden; and numerous friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judy Beavers Martin of Birch Tree, MO; a sister, Mary Ellen Martin of Birch Tree, MO; two brothers, Dale (Myrtle) Martin and Gene (Irene) Martin both of Birch Tree, MO; his 5 children, Glenda (Rick) Jones of Grove, OK; Leonard Martin of Birch Tree, MO; Joyce Martin of Birch Tree, MO; Kathy (Kip) Brink of Hardy, AR; and Eddie (Kathy) Martin of Mountain View, MO; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Jim and Judy opened their home numerous times to family and friends throughout their years which blessed them with additional close relationships that feel much like family.
