Obituary

John Stanley Wood, Jr. "Stan" was born April 24, 1960, in Harrison, Arkansas, to John Stanley Wood and Brenda Joyce Morris. He married his high school sweetheart & love of his life, Margaret Pearson, on September 18, 1982. He passed from this life at his home in Mountain View, Missouri, on December 4, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Pearson Wood; son, John S. Wood, III (Stephanie) of Springfield, MO; son, William Raymond "Bill" Wood (Becky "Blondie") of Mountain View, MO; grandchildren, Mason Denning, Chloe Kelts, Gage Wood, Maddux Denning, Alley Wood, Kinsley Wood, Waylon Wood, and Baby Girl Wood (arriving soon); sister, Stephanie Hamilton; special aunt and uncle, Patricia and Jack Morgan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Stan was a lifelong Cowboy. Along with his own cattle, he worked for Sparks Farms, Circle A Ranch, and NB Hunt Ranches. In his younger days, he showed cattle, winning numerous state and national grand champion and showmanship awards. He enjoyed team roping, bull riding, and breaking horses. His love of football and passion for the game earned him All-State awards for two years and back-to-back football State championships, starting both offense and defense. This carried on through coaching his sons in Mighty Mites and following them through high school and college. He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, and playing with his children, grandchildren, and friends, young and old. He also looked forward to Wednesday poker with the guys. Stan loved big, played big, and kept everyone entertained with his stories of growing up in Louisiana and on the ranch. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Stan was a Certified Farrier/Blacksmith, Saddlemaker/Leatherworker, and truck driver for FMC-Coastal Energy, but his biggest loves were his role as Husband, Dad and Pappy.
