Kathryn
Bressler
Jun 8, 1949 — Jan 28, 2023
Lula Kathryn (Honeycutt) Bressler was born June 8, 1949, in Salem, Missouri, to Mac Cleve and Lela Mary Lee (Sconce) Honeycutt. She passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, at her home in Eminence, Missouri, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 20 days, with her loving, caring, and dedicated husband by her side.
She was raised in Eminence, where she graduated from Eminence High School in 1967. She was married to Alvin Ray Bressler on October 14, 1967, and they moved to the St. Louis area. When Alvin was drafted into the Army in 1968, they moved to Killeen, Texas, for 7 months after basic training, and then were stationed in Germany for 9 months. When Alvin was discharged in 1970, they moved back to the St. Louis area until 1974, then they moved back home to Eminence, where they have lived ever since. Kathryn and Alvin had three children, Scott, Bruce, and Corrie. Since Alvin played and sang in a bluegrass band, they took their kids traveling to bluegrass festivals and immersed them deeply into the bluegrass world, passing on the gift of music to their children. Bluegrass was a major part of their lives. Kathryn was a member of the Eminence First Baptist Church, where she was the pianist and Sunday School Secretary for over 30 years. Her church meant a lot to her, and she loved her church family very much.
Kathryn was a highway contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for about 34 years, where she carried the mail all around the E Highway area and into Birch Tree. She "retired" and subcontracted the route out from about 2010 till the present day.
Those who preceded Kathryn in death include her mom and daddy, Mac "Cleve" and Lela "Mary Lee" Honeycutt; grandparents, Wesley and Pearl "Ma" Sconce; uncles, Oral, Jesse, Raymond, Otho, and Johny Sconce; aunt, Lucille Hoffer; and a niece, Stephanie Huffman; as well as more aunts and uncles, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law.
Kathryn leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Alvin, of 54 years; her sons, Scott (Ami), and Bruce (Jade); daughter, Corrie Mahan (Chris); ten grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Halee, Audrey, and Arlee Bressler, Carter, Katie, Drew, and Eli Bressler, Makenna, Kylie, and Bethany Mahan; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Kathryn didn't have any siblings of her own, but she was happy to gain eight brothers and sisters when she married Alvin, and she loved them as her own. She had a big extended family of her own, with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved spending time with them and loved them all deeply.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but they praise God knowing that she is healed and rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. Praise God for His gift of salvation!
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Eminence, Missouri, with Rev. Sam Upton and Pastor Paul Wellinghoff officiating.
