Obituary

Loutrecia Lenora "Lou" Singleton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor, and friend, passed away on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family and community she cherished so deeply. Born on May 15, 1943, in Blackburn, Missouri, to Ferrell and Ethel Smith, Lou lived a life centered around love, kindness, family, and friendship.

Lou was one of seven children, and later welcomed the addition of half-siblings, growing their family to fourteen brothers and sisters. From a young age, Lou's story was one of enduring love. At just five years old, she met the love of her life, Darrold Singleton. The two were married at 14 years old on February 17, 1958, in Kansas City, and built a beautiful life together filled with devotion, hard work, laughter, and family.

Together, Lou and Darrold raised five children: Ronnie, Richard, Dianna, Brenda, and Lori. Lou dedicated herself wholeheartedly to being a homemaker while Darrold spent long hours on the road as a truck driver. She created a home full of warmth, good food, and unconditional love for her children and anyone else who walked through her door.

Later in life, Lou and Darrold owned and operated the Main Event restaurant and bar in Mountain View, MO, where they became known for their warm hospitality and strong community spirit. Lou never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She found joy in life's simple moments — spoiling Ava, the family dog, searching for treasures at garage sales, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, working puzzles and playing card games, collecting angels and frogs, shopping at Walmart, or rearranging the furniture once again. Wherever Lou went, she brought warmth, laughter, and energy to those around her.

If you couldn't find her visiting with someone, chances are she was in the kitchen making her famous biscuits and gravy — a meal served with love that became a treasured memory for her family and friends.

In later years, Lou and Darrold made their home in Mountain Home, AR, where they built lifelong friendships and found a close-knit community among neighbors she loved dearly. Lou spent time cleaning homes in the area, though many joked she spent more time socializing than cleaning — because above all else, Lou loved people. She will be remembered most for always being there for anyone at any time. Her caring heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love touched countless lives.

Lou is survived by her children, Richard Singleton, Dianna Hill, Brenda Christian, and Lori Manson; her grandchildren, Garrett Christian, Krisha Heavener, Ashley Carr, Nina Clem and Chris Hill; and her great-grandchildren, Kallie and Brynlee Christian, Brayden, Dawsen, and Graysen Turner, Maddax Carr, Kiera Collins, Zoey Clem, Iris and Elyn Hill; She is also survived by her siblings, Otha Smith, Cecil Smith, Gary Smith, Roger Smith, Joyce Smith, Joanne Anthony, and Donna Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferrell and Ethel Smith; her devoted husband, Darrold Singleton; her beloved son, Ronnie Singleton; her son-in-law, Tom Hill; her precious great-grandchild, Landis Carr; and her siblings, Frankie Smith, Robert Smith, Linda Smith, Mildred Smith, Baby Boy Smith, and Naomi Smith.

Lou's family finds comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in every shared meal, every helping hand, every conversation between neighbors, and every act of kindness given freely to others. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
