Mark Andrew Simpson was born on February 14, 1956, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of James Venton Simpson and Muriel Christine (Norton) Simpson. Mark lived his life in Winona, Missouri, until his passing on November 29, 2022, at the age of 66.

On September 13, 1975, he was united in marriage to Connie Elaine Deckard of Winona, and to this union, two children were born.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, James Venton and Muriel; a brother, Jim Simpson; and a nephew, James Carey "Jay" Simpson.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; two sons, Steven and Brian, both of Winona, MO; one granddaughter, Bryla Simpson; one brother, David (Diane) of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Carol Atkins of Winona, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark graduated from Winona High School in 1974. As a young man, he worked at Hiebert's Post Yard and then went to work for MODOT in 1977. Later in his career, he was promoted to Superintendent, where he spent a total of 33 years until his retirement in December 2010. In 2011, Mark was introduced to the best position he ever had; he became a grandfather to Bryla Grace Simpson. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching tv, and visiting with all his friends.

Mark will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri, with Garry Reagan officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Winona. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
