Olive "Fern" (Griffin) Frye was born on January 28, 1934, in Booker, Texas to Alvin J. and Goldie P. (Hummer) Griffin. She left this life on June 19, 2021, in Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Missouri.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Goldie; two brothers, Alvin "Paul" Griffin and Jerry Ray Griffin; two sisters, Gwendolyn Sue Griffin and Beulah Carolyn Decker; one son, Michael Eugene Allen; one daughter-in-law, Bonita Allen; and one granddaughter-in-law, Ella Allen.

She is survived by her children, Judy and Bill Peterson of Joplin, MO, Evelyn Scharff, Raymond L. Allen, and Donna Allen all of Mountain View, MO, Deborah and James Christopher, and Kevin Allen of Danville, AR; grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Reagan, Terri and Ferral Mace, Lori and John Manning, Melissa and Luke Woolsey, David Allen, Chester Allen, Michael Paul and Champagne Allen, Crystal and Ricky Mays, Kelly and Rodney Alcorn, Chuck and Charity Allen, Raymond and Jaime Allen, Travis and Ashley Allen, and Sheila Christopher; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Fern loved crossword puzzles, playing games with the grandkids, coffee at the restaurant, and watching the hummingbirds.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, in Veterans Cemetery Mountain View, Missouri with Pastor Eric Tripp officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
