Rebecca Jo
Long
Apr 3, 1980 — Sep 29, 2024
Rebecca Jo (Smith) Long made her journey home on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 44 years. Becky Jo, as her momma always called her, was born on April 3, 1980, to Steve and Rhonda (Ledgerwood) Smith, in Mountain View, Missouri.
Becky was joined in marriage to Jeremy Long on December 7, 2002. The family was completed a few years later with the addition of Thomas Jeremy.
Before her health began to decline, Becky worked as a CNA at Birch View Nursing Center. She also volunteered with her husband Jeremy as a firefighter on the Moody Fire Department. Becky had a big heart and was always doing for others. She would spend hours working on bead weaving or creating one of her many paintings, always having someone in mind to give it to when she was finished. Becky loved Astronomy and enjoyed spending time outside with her telescope looking at the stars. Becky loved her fur babies, Ceaser, Ivory, Gizmo, Sonny, Paws, and Pester. One of her greatest joys was being a devoted wife to Jeremy and mother to Thomas, she always cherished the family trips they would take together, and one of her favorite places to visit was Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Becky is survived by her husband of twenty-one years, Jeremy; and son, Thomas of the home; step-father, Michael Shepherd of Stotts City, MO; sisters, ShaShauna (Joshua) Jones of Tallahassee, FL, Falcon Shepherd, and Talon Binkley of Georgia; father-in-law, Gary (Michelle) Long; mother-in-law, Cathy Asmus of Arkansas; and an abundance of family members and friends.
Becky is preceded in death by her father, Steve Smith; mother, Rhonda Shepherd; and grandparents.
The family will host a small Celebration of Life in Becky's honor at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Birch Tree, Missouri on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
