Obituary

Ronnie Dale Bettis, son of the late George and Margaret Louis (Birlew) Bettis, was born on June 13, 1954, in Winona, Missouri. He gained his wings on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Birch Tree, Missouri, and went to be with the Lord. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends. He attained the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 6 days.

Ronnie never met a stranger and gained many friends throughout his years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting with friends and family, and hanging out at deer camp. Ronnie's love of woodworking gifted many people with his talents. He loved pestering and joking around with anyone that would listen. Ronnie will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving partner of 28 years, Janice Smotherman. He married Kathy Hunt in 1978 and to this union one daughter was born, Ashley Joyce (David) of Springfield, MO. He gained three more children after meeting Janice, Bobby Smotherman (Mary) of Birch Tree, MO, Tracy Day (Steve) of Birch Tree, and Annie Roy (Scott) of Mountain View, MO. Ronnie had two sisters, Goldie Conner of Winona, MO, and Starla French (Eugene) of Birch Tree; and two brothers, Roy Bettis (Kathy) of Winona, and Dannie Bettis of Lockwood, MO. The true joys of his life were his grandchildren, David Joyce Jr. (Bridget) of Springfield, MO, Paysley Joyce of Springfield, Tramond Day (Heather) of West Plains, MO, Jandale Brooks (Brandon) of Lebanon, MO, McKaelin Hedden (Devin) of Mountain View, Kelstin Roy of Mountain View, and Jerison Day of Birch Tree. Ronnie also had many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Bettis; two sisters, Margie Neal and Kathy Linn Bettis; two brothers-in-law, Phil Neal and Bert Conner; and one grandson, Jeffrey Smotherman.
