Wayne Eugene Murphy was born on January 1, 1940, the third child of five, to Burney Philander and Helen Lacleda (Lee) Murphy in Birch Tree, Missouri. He left this world to attend a Heavenly Reunion on the early morning of May 28, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Wayne married Verna May Tharp on July 3, 1960, and less than a year later, they had their first child, a son. They continued to fill their home with five more children, two sons and three daughters. Later, after their son, Robert and his wife had both passed away, they adopted their grandson, Micheal.

If Wayne could have had his way, he and Verna would have had one huge house, and their whole family would live there. There would need to be enough rooms for all their children and spouses, their children's children, and their children's children's children. He loved family, all of his family, including his church family. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. Wayne would find someone in the grocery store and talk while Verna did the shopping. When she was done, he would still be talking. "Who was that?" "I don't know."

He loved singing for his Jesus. He accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of 17 years. Because he loved Jesus, he will be in Heaven making sure there are enough rooms in his Big, Big, House.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Church of God of Prophecy, Winona, Missouri, with Bro. Darrell Derryberry officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. also at the church. Inurnment will be in Oak Forest Cemetery, Birch Tree, Missouri.
