Wilford Johnny Woolsey, 87, of Mountain View, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2021. He was born April 13, 1934, in Texas County, Missouri, the son of Herbert and Phyllis Elizabeth (Tune) Woolsey.
Wilford was united in marriage to Bernita Phipps on March 17, 1952, in Hardy, Arkansas. To this union, two children were born, Gene and Terry.
He is survived by one son, Gene Woolsey and wife, Rita; one daughter, Terry Carr and husband, Bud; one brother, Wilbur Burks and wife, Janella; two sisters-in-law, Verna Woolsey and Donna Woolsey; five grandchildren, Lisa Harris and Mark, Vicki Carr and Shawn, Amy Black and Paul, Melissa Graupman and Doug, and Jarrod Woolsey and Erika; eleven great-grandchildren, Trey, Abbey, Devin, Tyler, Austen, Kaylee, Meagan, Owen, Emma, Kylee and Anthony; and one great-great-grandchild, Rhett.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernita; siblings, Herman Woolsey and wife, Stella, Troy Woolsey, Dorothy Mays and husband, Dick, and Milford Woolsey; three nephews, James Woolsey, Michael Woolsey, and Kenny Mays; and two infant great-granddaughters, Tiffany and Ella.
Wilford grew up working in a sawmill at home. Later on, sales became his passion, and he sold baked goods, bread, chips, and hardware, to name a few. He was the sales manager at West Plains Hardware for many years, but he returned to Mountain View and worked for Richards Brothers as the manager until his retirement. Wilford and Bernita also ran a commercial egg farm before retiring.
Wilford was a member and served as an elder of Church of Christ in Mountain View for 60 plus years, and he was also a 32nd degree Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor Jeremiah Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ in Mountain View, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
