William Edmond Owens, 92, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026. Edmond was born near Mountain View, Missouri, in their family home on September 20, 1933. He was the eldest child of William "Bill" Louis Owens and Mayme Belle (Holden) Owens and was raised alongside his three younger sisters, Doris Jane, Mayme Deloris, and Thelma Louise Owens.

Edmond grew up working on the family farm on W Highway. From a young age, he helped in the hay fields and at the family sawmill, beginning to drive tractors at just nine years old. On November 15, 1955, he was drafted into the United States Navy, where he served for two years. After returning home, he worked at a sawmill in Peace Valley.

It was during this time that Edmond met the love of his life, Bonnie Sue Sagerser. They were married on September 16, 1962, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. To this union, five children were born.

Edmond made his living doing what he knew and loved. He raised beef cattle, cut and hauled cordwood and firewood for many friends and neighbors, worked in logging, and operated the family dairy for many years. He loved working on the family farm and remained active on it throughout his life. In fact, he was still in the hay field raking just two days before his passing.

He took great pride in his home and yard and dearly loved keeping everything looking immaculate. Many times, he could be seen climbing off the tractor and onto the lawnmower, always finding another job that needed to be done. He also had a special love for his chainsaws, which he affectionately referred to as his "babies." Edmond always looked forward to Pioneer Days in Mountain View each year, where he enjoyed competing in the chainsaw competitions alongside his sister, Doris Jane Sparks.

Although Edmond was known for his hard work, he was just as well known for the people he met along the way. He always had time to stop and visit with anyone he came across. He never met a stranger, and it was often said that he could start up a conversation with a fence post. His kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others made him a friend to many.

Edmond is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Sue Sagerser Owens, of the home; his five children, Tammy (James) Blunk of Mountain View, Teresa (Ted) Shipley of West Plains, Linda (Marc) Cornman of Mountain View, Willie (Jolie) Owens of Birch Tree, and Eddie Owens of Mountain View; and his sister, Thelma Hill of Warsaw, MO.

He leaves behind 16 grandchildren: Scott (Kacey) Blunk, Amanda Blunk, Nick Shipley, Lauren (Bradley) Laughary, Kylie (Colby) Quillian, Hailey Cornman, Zane (Leanna) Cornman, Cale (Shelby) Cornman, Zeb (Sadie) Cornman, Lyla (Malacia) Fisher, Daniel (Rachel) White, Wyatt (Kelsey) Owens, Jordan Owens, Logan (Lillian) Owens, Téa Owens, and Ruger Owens.

He was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren: Tucker and Dallas Thomas, Colton and Weston Boyer, Leona Quillian, Lane and Brent Hood, Branch, Swayze and Dixie Cornman, Deacon and Sutton Cornman, Callum Fisher, Dean and Knox White, Reed and Walker Owens, and John and Gideon Owens. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will miss him dearly.

Edmond was preceded in death by his parents, William Louis Owens and Mayme Belle (Holden) Owens; his sisters, Doris Jane Sparks and Mayme Deloris Wade, along with their husbands, Jim Sparks and Paul Wade; brother-in-law, Dave Hill; sister-in-law, Wilma Vines and her husband, Fred Vines; daughter-in-law, Jacqulyn D'Ann Owens; niece, Sherry (Sparks) Meyer; and great-nephew, Michael Sparks.

Edmond was a devout Christian and a faithful man. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a longtime member of the Church of God in Mountain View, Missouri, where he was a beloved member of his church family for 45 years. He loved his church family and enjoyed the fellowship and time spent with them. Some of his favorite times were his Sunday afternoon McDonald's visits with Bonnie, Sister Janice, and Sister Karen.

Edmond leaves behind a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and friendship. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, church family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor Dwayne Terry and Daniel White officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30-3:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
