Wilma Jean Smith was born on September 5, 1926, in Winona, Missouri, to her parents, Frank and Kate (Thomason) West. She passed away on February 25, 2023, in Valley Park, Missouri.

Jean and Claude "Blondie" Smith were married in January 1947. Together they had four children, Vivian, Jackie, Claudia, and Robert.

She is survived by three children, Vivian and Everett Shinault of Eureka, MO, Jackie Kincaid of Imperial, MO, and Claudia and Mark Minton of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Gary (Cherie), Natasha, and Christopher; grandson-in-law, Nicholas; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Madi, and Lucas. She was the second oldest of her siblings and had numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents, Frank and Kate West; son, Robert; granddaughter, Amanda; and son-in-law, Irv.

Her old saying was, "I walked to work and back every day," and she ate a tablespoon of peanut butter with coffee for breakfast, never smoked or drank, and maybe that's why she lived to be 96 years old. She was a strict parent, but each of us learned from that.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12-1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery and left a the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
