Obituary

Shirley Ann (Phillips) Donaldson was born on November 13, 1935, to Franklin and Elve (Kyzer) Phillips in Newberry, South Carolina. She passed from this life into eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 15, 2026, in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 90.

She graduated from Newberry High School and married James David Donaldson on July 24, 1953. To this union, three children were born: James David Jr., Russell Franklin, and Vikki Ann.

When Shirley was a teenager, she invited Jesus into her heart and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and her faith in Him carried her through all of life's joys and sorrows. Shirley enjoyed studying the Bible, singing in the choir, and fellowshipping with friends in Oasis Church in Orlando, Florida. Later in life, she joined First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Missouri. She also enjoyed attending Community Bible Study and visiting with her friends at Park Place Apartments in Mountain View.

Shirley was an Air Force wife who traveled with her husband, David, in Japan, Germany, and numerous bases across the United States. They retired from the Air Force in Orlando, Florida, where she worked in the office of Englewood Elementary School. For many years, she lovingly helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave; her daughter, Vikki Ann Donaldson; her sons, James David Donaldson, Jr., and Russell Franklin Donaldson; her brother, Thomas "Tommy" Phillips; and great-grandchildren, JoLynn Bingham and Thomas Allen Balliet.

Shirley is survived by her granddaughter, Kasandra Ann (Cline) Lovelace and husband, James Andrew McMichael, with great-grandchildren, Jonathan Samuel Sconiers, Vikki Ann Lovelace, Sheyenne Amber Lovelace, Noah John Lovelace, and Jeffrey Allen Balliet Jr.  She is also survived by her granddaughter, KimmyJo (Cline) Porter, with great-grandchildren, James David Cline, and John Lewis Bingham II and wife, Brianne Nicole Beach, along with great-great-grandchildren, Nora Nicole Bingham and Nolan Wayne Bingham; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Phillips and her children; and special friend, Rose Cline, who meant a lot to Shirley.

A memorial service, guided by her church family, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Mountain View, Missouri. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, Florida, next to the grave of her husband, Dave. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 9:45 a.m., at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Gotha, Florida.
